House of Anghel Saligny („Casa Vranceana” Restaurant)

 

Location: Simion Bărnuțiu Street, no.7-9
Birthplace of the famous engineer Anghel Saligny, the dwelling on Simion Bărnuţiu Street is a building made in the 19th century by Ignat Ștefan and Ignat George. In 1821, the house was acquired by Alfred Rudolf of Saligny (originating in France, established in Focșani in 19th century).
The house has undergone several structural changes over time, from additions to re-partitioning, being developed horizontally and having small proportions, representative for the beginning of the 19th century. Despite this, the house continues to be an attraction point that has managed to maintain the traditional architectural style of Romanian cities in the fair type of cities in the 18th – 19th century.
Currently the property accommodate “Casa Vrânceană” restaurant.
