Alaci House, currently the history department of the Vrancea Museum, a historical monument of the IMO code VN-II-m-B-06430, was built by a family of Armenian Targovists. Designed in eclectic style at the end of the 19th century, this architectural work gives a distinct note to the city, representing one of the exponents of a elitist and established society at that time.
The Museum of History includes collections of archeology that illustrate human experience in these lands from time immemorial. The historical periods represented are prehistory, antiquity, the Middle Ages, continuing until the twentieth century, the first half. There are rich collections of archeology (Cucuteni neolithic pottery, Dacian treasures and Romanes). Visitors discover the results of the archaeological excavations from Cândeşti, Padureni, Bordeşti and other settlements, as well as ceramic objects, crafts or religious objects. There are also the most important religious places in Vrancea. The archaeological material of the medieval period is supplemented by documents, stamps, and maps meant to fill the image of the Focşani and the county's role in the medieval history of Romania. The chapter of modern and contemporary history gives a complete picture of the place of the Focsani people in the revolution of 1821 and 1848. An important collection of documents and objects related to the Union of Principalities from 1859.
